Calvin Klein's collaboration with Macy's, on sale May 15, has divided opinion on its sartorial success.
While many believe the all-dress collection embodies the clean-lined minimalism the label is known for, others have been left extremely disappointed.
Accusing designer Francisco Costa of being 'boring', some customers and critics, who had high expectations, have stated they don't 'get' the line; however others are rejoicing at the throw-on-and-go pieces.
Spring clean: The all-dress collection, on sale May 15, embodies the simple, clean-lined minimalism Calvin Klein's designer Francisco Costa has become so well known for
Rachael Wang, fashion editor at Glamour magazine, said: 'Franciscoâs designs for Calvin Klein are sleek, clean and minimal and his collection for Macyâs clearly retains that aesthetic.
'I donât see any cause for surprise or let down,' she added. 'I would imagine individuals who celebrate his vision are pleasantly pleased with the wear-ability of the line and those who are bored by minimalism, will be bored by this Macyâs collaboration.'
Finding a simple, no-frills, little black dress (or little white dress), is harder than one might imagine.
The retail market is over-saturated with clothes full of too-much detail - especially within the $135-$180 price range, of which the Francisco Costa For Calvin Klein line sits.
Well-priced: Prices from $135 to $180, and the line is part of the Macy's spring 'A Magical Journey to Brasil'
Monochrome magic:Â Simple black and white dresses in the collection are a blessing for women who want no-fuss sophisticated staples, without the designer price tag
Ruffles, frills, feathers, uneven hemlines, unsightly buttons and sequins all amount to brick-and-mortar visual pollution, with pieces that many wish were just a little bit simpler.
Using just two fabrics, crepe and viscose jersey, in a subdued colour palette of black, white, steel grey and pale yellow, the classic dresses are the kind of effortlessly sophisticated staple items every woman should own.
Polished without trying too hard, the collection is perfect for professional women in search of styles suitable for the office environment - without the designer price tag.

King of classic: Designer Francisco Costa brought his effortlessly sophisticated Calvin Klein aesthetic to the Macy's diffusion line
However it also speaks to young-twenty somethings who crave summer simplicity with the cute cap-sleeve T-shirt dresses.
Using the clean lines and shapes of Brazilian modern architecture, Mr Costa drew inspiration from its spaces and structures, and the result is dresses that possess a fresh and contemporary, yet timeless appeal.
While people usually equate Brazil with a lot of vibrant color and festive celebrations, the town Mr Costa grew up in, Minas Gerais, values a more natural, organic and monochromatic aesthetic which is evident in his designs.
Ray Siegel, online fashion editor at Lucky magazine, explained that while little black dresses have a tendency to look boring, it is the attention to detail that elevates these plain dresses out of boringdom.
She told MailOnline: 'The thing that makes this line special is that the details that make minimalism so chic have not been ignored, which seems to happen really easily when designing a diffusion line.'
She added: 'The Calvin Klein stamp is obvious.'
The Francis co Costa for Calvin Klein collection hits Macy's stores and Macys.com, starting May 15.
Prices range from $135 to $180. The line is part of the retailer's 'A Magical Journey to Brasil' Spring initiative.

I am going to pick some of these up asap. I love simple clean lines you can dress up or down. These are the pieces in your closet you can grab and throw on for years. Winning!

I like them - as everyone has pointed out, this is the sort of clothes he designs.

Looks like classic Calvin Klein to me. Simplicity is what the label is known for.

The dresses look like great basic that hearken back to classic Calvin, when Klein himself was still designing for his own label. Personally I dislike a lot of the showy rubbish that is over embellished. These pieces look like great building blocks for someone getting a working wardrobe started or to replace the frilly things that will be dated before the summer is over.
