It was a tough night for Sir Tom Jones and Will.i.am tonight on The Voice as they had to see their teams halved, while their top two acts were chosen to go through to the semi-finals.
As fellow mentors Jessie J and Danny O'Donoghue relaxed and watched the night unfold, it was decision time for the other judges.
Both Sir Tom and Will.i.am were told that one of their acts would automatically be saved by the public depending on who received the most votes on the night.

Through! Team Tom's Ruth Brown was put through by the public, while he opted to save Leanne Mitchell
They then had to choose who out of their three remaining acts they also wanted to keep to compete in the semi-finals.
Sir Tom was the first to find out who out of Leanne Mitchell, Adam Isaac, Matt and Sueleen and Ruth Brown was saved from leaving the show.
After the votes were made he was then told that his favourite, Ruth Brown, had been put through.

Tough! Sir Tom Jones found it tough choosing which two acts to send home and not put through to the semi-final
Out: Both Adam and singing duo Matt and Suelene were very dignified when they left the show tonight, congratulating the rest of Team Tom for getting through
Just the night before she had moved him to tears when she sang Emili Sande's Next To Me.
An emotional Tom said after her performance last night: 'When I hear Ruth sing I get choked up'.
He looked moved again when he learned of her fate tonight, and became more emotional later in the programme when he had to choose two acts to send home.
He told presenter Holly Willoughby: 'Well, Adam was great. He's done everything I've asked him to do and more, and the same with Matt and Suelene.. Their harmonies are fantastic.

Learning their fates: Presenters Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates were on hand to reveal who was going through to the semi-finals
Favourites: Both Tyler James and Jaz Ellington were celebrating after they were put through on Team Will.i.am

Decision time: Will.i.am opted to save 'smooth' singer Tyler James, after Jaz was put through by the public
'And then of course there's Leanne... That voice.'
Sir Tom then revealed it was Leanne that he wanted to save, but Adam took the snub incredibly graciously.
He told the audience: 'I agree with you. Leanne has an amazing voice'.
Suelene added: 'It has been a crazy, amazing experience and Tom just having the belief in us has meant so much. It has been such a positive experience'.

Fingers crossed! Frances, Joelle and Tyler's fates were placed in mentor Will.i.am's hands as he chose who to save and who to send home
Spectators: Jessie and Danny will have to make their choices on next week's show as their acts just got to perform on tonight's programme
Although it wasn't the only drama for the evening, with Will.i.am being put in the same position.
He faced losing two out of Joelle Moses, Tyler James, Jaz Ellington and Frances Wood.
But it was Jaz who was saved by the public vote, and the Black Eyed Peas star wasn't surprised with his fate.
He said: 'I'm not surprised at all, Jaz is a superb singer'.
End of the road: Frances and Joelle hung up their mics as Tyler was put through to the next round

Farewell: Frances welled up as she gave Will.i.am a hug goodbye

Big night: All four judges were on hand to watch the scenes roll out
And he managed to choose who he wanted to save for the semi-final fairly easily.
He stated: 'We've learned a lot together, we've had a whole bunch of fun but now's battle time... I'm preparing for battle and I need somebody that is given any scenario and comes through with flying colours and comes out smooth and cool... and that's Tyler.'
Next week will see Team Jessie and Team Danny depleted as they're faced with the same scenario with their remaining four acts each.
Team Will halved: Joelle and Frances were upset to miss out but thanked the mentors for the opportunity so far

The Voice is getting boring now, it was hyped up to be this brilliant show but unfortunately it is very tedious.. Things need to change 1. Danny O'Donoghue: Duct tape over his mouth - three-fold! he goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on.. 2. Will. I. am : Give him a dictionary and a thesaurus - " I was like..." and "dope.." is just not good enough or constructive criticism! 3. Jessie J: A sharp pin to deflate the big headed ego and some duct tape to stop her from lip syncing during every act! and Tom Jones... Well he's a legend....

I don't understand how Danny is going to eliminate two acts from his team next week, his team is the best.

Had to laugh at Will.i.am's glasses - did he rush of out an optician's without taking off those frames in which they try out different lenses?
