Welcome to Gotham City: Nokia creates Streetview-style tour of Batman's world

The Dark Knight is about to leave Gotham City and sweep into cinemas across the world for the latest Batman film.

But before the Caped Crusader leaves his dark and dangerous home, he's teamed up with Nokia to present a 'Google Earth'-like tour of the perpetually-dark city.

The website tour, which makes you login to Facebook before exploring, lets you take an in-depth tour through Gotham with great graphics of the 3D cityscape, part of a joint promotion between Warner Brothers and Nokia.

There is a small price to pay - you have to say that you 'Like' Nokia on Facebook in order to gain access to the city, but once you are there, there is a lot to see and explore.

Offering prizes such as jerseys, phones and even Batman's cowl if you can find the hidden Bat Signals hidden around the city, the map feels like a mash-up between a game like Grand Theft Auto and StreetView, and allows you to visit atmospheric locations from the movie.

These include City Hall, Gotham City Stadium, Arkham Asylum, and Bruce Wayne's two favourite places - his Tower and his Manor.

This is all part of an extended promotional campaign by Nokia for its range of Lumia 900 Windows Phones.

The Finnish phone giant has also released special apps promoting the film, which include mini-games and exclusive trailers and previews of the movie, which opens this month.
