Madonna vs Gaga: The Material Girl takes a swipe at her Lady as she launches into Born This Way during tour rehearsals

When Lady Gaga released her single Born This Way last year, many commentated on how much it sounded like Madonna's well-known song Express Yourself.

Even The Material Girl herself hinted at the similarities between the two songs at the time saying she thought they were 'interesting'.

But she clearly hasn't let it go and last night she was filmed rehearsing in Israel for her MDNA tour taking what appeared to be a swipe at her younger contemporary.

As she was practising her moves for Express Yourself, the song then went into a percussion break before Madonna launched into Born This Way.

She then mashed Express Yourself back into the song before she started to sing She's Not Me from her 2008 album 'Hard Candy'.

The leaked footage appeared on YouTube today but it was unclear whether Madonna was paying homage to Gaga or having a dig.

When Gaga's song came out in May last year, Madonna said: 'I thought, "What a wonderful way to redo my song". I mean, I recognised the chord changes. I thought it was... interesting.'

She also told Cynthia McFadden on 20/20: 'When I heard it on the radio, I said "that sounds very familiar". It feels reductive.'

But Gaga defended herself and retorted: 'That's retarded. If you put the songs next to each other, side by side, the only similarities is the chord progression.

'It's the same one that's been in disco music for the last 50 years. Just because I'm the first f****** artist in 25 years to thinking of putting it on Top 40 radio, it doesn’t mean I'm a plagiarist, it means I’m f****** smart. Sorry.'

Gaga is currently on her Born This Way tour and is currently in Singapore while Madonna kick starts her MDNA Tour in Tel Aviv on Thursday.

Madonna needs to go away. Tons of songs sound similar and have similar chords for crying out loud. She's just jealous because Gaga is so much more talented.

Um, that's not Madonna in the boots and fishnets.

I think both are milking this for all it's worth. they're both laughing at us all the way to the bank...

Madonna should be honoured

I would say this is a swipe the press because of its constant comparison between the two from the fact "shes not me" was included.

How old is this women again? She could have stood above it all and remained an incon, instead, she brought herself down to the star status of Lady GaGa and now they are just two pop stars in a quibble.

Madonna looks her age in that strappy outfit with fishnets and boots and her body's in terrible shape these days, no to mention the platinum blonde hair which is too harsh for a woman of her age - put it away and tone it down grandma! - Kylie's Sparkly Tiarra, Formby, UK, 28/5/2012 23:07 That's Gaga in that stupid outfit in the last photo, not Madonna. Don't take my word for it, read the caption. I agree that the bodies in terrible shape though, especially for someone so young. She should take note of Madonna who, at 50, is in far better shape than about 50% of women aged under 30.

I think it's time for her to just stop.

Just loving the thought of how Madonna had to ask permission for this and the royalties Gaga will receive!

I find Madonna to be getting more and more childish with her attempts to 'diss' artists recently. I think it may be due to the fact that Madonna is becoming less and less relevant which is shown by her poor recent sales and her lack of public media. It seems that the only way that she can get into the public media is to continuously try and diss Lady Gaga. It's pathetic. It seems that Lady Gaga is more mature than Madonna since Gaga never goes out of her way to try and diss people. She can keep her negative opinions to herself. Madonna, grow up (it's weird how i'm saying this and she's 53) and stop trying to insult others. Gaga has NEVER said a bad word about you. You should both respect each other.
