Spencer Matthews makes his debut as The Bachelor

Spencer Matthews has commenced his search for 'the love of his life' as The Bachelor.

The Made In Chelsea star, who led fans to believe he was head over heels for co-star Louise Thompson until just weeks ago, says he is hoping to settle down and find true love.

The hotel heir, 23, has already whittled 24 potential love interests down to 15 during tonight's premiere, which took place in the South of France.

'During the next six weeks I could meet the love of my life,' Spencer said. 'I'm going to like loads of them, because that's just how I am.'

'I want to feel a spark with someone right from the start,' the flirtatious reality star added, before meeting the girls.

Matthews greeted each girl in turn outside a palatial home as they arrived in a limo.

Marissa, 29, from China, was the first to meet the Bachelor. A number of girls managed to make an impression from the off, including Katrina, 20, ditched the gown for a more casual denim jacket. 'It's a cool statement,' Spencer said of her attire.

Rachel, 21, confronted him over his relationship status, asking 'Hang on, don't you have a girlfriend?' 'I wouldn't be here if I did,' was his cool reply, 'but I look forward to talking to you more about that later.

Chloe, 25, seemed to make an impression, with Spencer admitting that she 'stuck in his mind', as did
Danielle, 21, who brought along two shots for them to share upon meeting.

Renay, 24, said before meeting Spencer that if she fancies the Bachelor she will have no problem fighting off the other girls to have him - but admitted afterwards that she didn't find the 'posh boy' attractive from her first impression.

Sophia, 25, had said that she hoped The Bachelor would be Spencer from Made In Chelsea, but turned him off by acting starstruck during their meeting.

Natalia,31, made their meeting memorable by taking a self portrait, while the final girl he met, Jess, 26, charmed Spencer with a joke.

After the initial meet and greets were over with, Spencer and the ladies moved on to the party.

Almost immediately, Spencer called Chloe outside for a private chat, asking her why she is there. 'I'm ready to settle down, and find something that's new and outrageous and different,' she replied.

But the pair's intimate moment is interrupted by dancer Jess, who comes to join them.

Chloe is visibly put out by the addition to her party, and the two girls engage in a bit of awkward catty one-upmanship.

Later, 24-year-old Tabby approached Spencer to offer him a white rose, joking that 'he made the best impression on her'.

The brave move worked, and she was the first to receive a red rose later in the evening, before the actual rose ceremony.

Decisions, decisions: Spencer sorts through his potential love interests

The following morning, the girls were invited for one-on-one chats with Spencer.

Khloe from Manchester was the second girl to receive a rose after a long day of conversation for Spencer. The 21-year-old endeared herself to the reality star with her 'innocence.'

During the rose ceremony, the first to be handed out is to Danielle, who impressed Spencer with her shots during the meeting.

'She's a bubble of fun': Jess also receives one early on

Rachel, who confronted Spencer over whether he was truly single, also received one.

Jess, who Spencer called 'a bubble of fun', was called next, followed by Jeneva, Marissa, Natalia, Aisha, Jerri and Helen.

With three roses left, Spencer calls Renay's name. The single mother reacts in shock, asking 'Really?' But Spencer says her honesty over having a daughter impressed him.

Chloe is relieved when she is the second last girl to be called, despite Spencer admitting during their earlier chat that her cattiness the night before with Jess turned him off a little.

The final rose is given to Brandy. 'You're such a meany keeping me waiting,' she chastised him.

Sophia, who was open about how starstruck she was upon meeting the reality star, was one of the nine sent home.
