Emma Webb, 41, charged with performing sexual favours for boys at secondary school

A female school worker has appeared in court accused of having sex with pupils.

Emma Webb is facing 19 charges of abusing her position of trust by engaging in sex acts with pupils at a secondary school near Wokingham in Berkshire, which cannot be named for legal reasons.

Webb, who was a cover supervisor and a mentor at the school, also faces one charge of perverting the course of justice, Reading Magistrates’ Court heard.

The 41-year-old, who was denied bail, was arrested last Thursday by detectives investigating a series of alleged sexual incidents at the school.

The incidents were said to have involved three boy pupils.

Earlier a spokesman for Thames Valley Police said that Webb was accused of 19 counts of abuse of a position of trust, under the Sexual Offences Act.. 

'The woman was suspended from her employment to allow any investigations to be carried out and the police are continuing to work closely with the school and the local authority,' added the spokesman. 

She is due to appear at Reading Crown Court on July 2.
