William Shakespeare famously described Britain as âthis sceptred isleâ, a âprecious stone set in the silver seaâ.
But even the great bardâs celebrated prose cannot possibly match the awe inspired by simply gazing upon the enchanted countryside of this âother Edenâ.
From the soft rolling hills of the South Downs to the forbidding mountains of the Scottish highlands, Britain is blessed with some of the most varied and magical landscapes in the world.
And its utterly spellbinding beauty could hardly be better revealed than in the stunning snaps shown below.
Some of Britain's top wildlife photographers have produced this set of landscape images for 2O2OVISION, a photography-based conservation initiative aiming to show the that healthy ecosystems are fundamental to us all.
So scroll down through the pictures and be prepared to have your breath taken away.

Some years ago, i was on the Island of Barra, in the outer hebrides. When i was there, i heard of a woman, who was from the south of england, and an artist, and had arrived in Barra by ferry, then asked if anyone could take her to Mingulay (a depopulated, abandoned island, south of Barra) one boatman said he would, but the cost would be too much to fairly charge her, so if she found ten other people, he would take them all. She put an advert in the shop, and forty wanted to go. So she got out there, stayed on the island on her own for a week (must have had a lot of pasta) i heard about her living there. When i was leaving Barra, i was taking the ferry to south uist. This woman comes over to talk to me, and starts talking about the colours, and how good they were at that time. I noticed the paint on her hands, and how dirty she was, unkempt, messy hair. I said to her, you that artist that was living in Mingulay, it was her, i really hope she did well as an artist.

Lovely pictures, but Halnaker, while being near Chichester - Chichester is in WEST Sussex, not East Sussex. Get it right!!

Very nice, but the sad reality for the majority of Britons is they only get to see concrete jungles and rain.

Daniel, Lancashire, 23:48. Well put! I gave you a green arrow for that, but for future reference the word is 'Feet' as in walking, (Walk upon England's pastures green) not 'Feat' as in 'Amazing feat' although he may have had both to his name!

High Dynamic Range photos? Some technical details would be useful.

Sorry but it still is no comparison to New Zealand.

It really is stunning, and this year the green is especially vibrant. It's a shame 2/3rds of us can't afford the fuel to drive around the country, a flight abroad is cheaper. Disgraceful !

Scenery to make your heart sing. Lets hope when the time comes and us Scots are asked to choose between separation and unity, that we are permitted to stay together as one Union and one people.
