If you’ve ever dreamed of having your own water fountain at home, or struggle every morning to rinse your mouth while brushing your teeth, help is finally at hand.

A US designer has reinvented the toothbrush so it can also send a spray of water up into your mouth.

The New York designer claims the $22 toothbrushes are a ‘new way to get water into our mouths for rinsing out toothpaste suds after brushing,’ adding ‘people love water fountains.’

Amron says the design will mean people no longer need to use disposable cups or strain their neck bending over the tap.

It also comes with a replacement brush head that can simply replace the existing one, meaning the brush does not need to be totally replaced every few months.

The designer is currently raising funds to begin making the brush in November, taking preorders via his website.

Amron is also offering bulk discounts - 900 of the brushes can be yours for $9500, while those really impressed with the idea can buy the original prototype for $3800.

However, the design has attracted some less than favourable comments online, with one internet user pointing out ‘is it really so hard to drink from a cup or take a mouthful of water in your hand to rinse?’.
