An X Factor reject who allegedly screamed abuse at the judges during Cardiff auditions has claimed she was the victim of an elaborate set-up designed to paint her as a 'girl with a bad attitude'

Zoe Alexander, a Pink tribute act, is alleged to have used the C-word, pushed a female producer in the face and flung her microphone on the floor when she was told she was not good enough.

But the 22-year-old accused bosses of the ITV1 show of deliberately painting her as a sour loser during Monday's round of pre-recorded auditions in Cardiff and added they told her what to sing.

Miss Alexander, from Caerphilly, South Wales, allegedly screamed profanities after judges Louis Walsh and Gary Barlow branded her performance average.

But the singer claimed today the show had deliberately tried 'to make me out to be this girl' for entertainment.

'I'm not that girl. I can play that character but I'm not that person. I'm actually a nice person,' she said.

Miss Alexander said she had been told by producers to sing the Pink song So What.

'It wasn't a song I was going to do. I wanted to do Jessie J. I didn't feel comfortable,' she said.

'They humiliated me in front of thousands of people. But I make my living doing Pink routines and I'm good at it. I went out on stage and Gary Barlow put his hand up in just 30 seconds. They all seemed to have a really awful attitude towards me.

'On the second song, I didn't even get into the chorus.'

She went on: 'They didn't have one positive thing to say. I do this for a living and I know people like what I do. People enjoy what I do.

'I did swear, but I was referring to the X Factor and the company, not the audience.'

She claimed: 'I didn't throw the mic - I dropped it. I was in a state of shock until about 7pm last night.

'It was the most humiliating day of my life. It was all so strange. They just shouldn't do that to talented people.'

Miss Alexander added: 'I'm sure I'm not the only one it's happened to but possibly I'm the only one to stand up for myself.

'That might have made me look like an idiot but I've got confidence in myself and I don't think that they expected that.

'There are loads of young boys and girls who have just got their confidence up and they just squash it.

'I've only been on stage for two years and it's taken a lot to get me where I am.'

An X Factor source told the Mail: ‘The judges gave Zoe four no’s and said her vocals were average.

‘Nicole said she should work on her vocals and come back.

‘Zoe left the stage, throwing down her microphone and hurling it towards the judges. Then she walked back on with her dad. Her dad was ranting at the judges while Zoe sobbed.

‘She then swore at the judges and stormed off, pushing Dermot O’Leary’s camera out of the way and kicking scenery.’

The source added: ‘We had security and a producer to escort Zoe out of the venue. And as she walked out she turned and hit the producer with heel of her hand in the face.

‘The producer’s glasses have been damaged and she’s had to put an ice pack on her face . We are still debating whether to call the police.’

Last night, Miss Alexander's father Glen Smith, 55, said: ‘They wanted a girl with attitude and that's what they got.

‘They groomed her for the show saying she was what they were looking for at the Cardiff auditions.

‘They even chose the song for her - but then the judges all gave her a no.

‘They set her up, shattered a young girl's dreams of being a star all for the sake of reviving the flagging viewing figures for the show.’

Miss Alexander has performed at clubs and parties across Britain and in Europe.

She applied for the X Factor and was invited to audition after show producers saw a raunchy video of her act on her website.

An X Factor spokeswoman said: 'An incident took place in Cardiff which is being dealt with.'

Mr Anderson, who is a Tom Jones impersonator, added: ‘I was watching with the host Dermot O'Leary and he turned to me and said: ‘I think the Pink thing blew it’.

‘But the show wanted Zoe to do Pink - they chose the song. She told the panel that but they denied all knowledge.

‘Tulisa even said to her: ‘We didn't choose the song’ - so maybe she didn't know what goes on behind the scenes.

‘She wanted to be a pop star but they have wrecked her dreams.’

Zoe - who also failed last year in auditions in Birmingham - was back home last night and claimed she would quit showbusiness.

the music industry is tough and you have to keep your dignity - you will get the knockbacks, whether good or bad. There is no shame in working clubs - many top performers did this - Russell Watson for example. It teaches you to be more humble as these are the most tough audiences. There are good bad acts on this circuit, often working hard in no the best conditions for not much money, no dancers, backing singers or auto tune here. Tribute acts are popular because not everyone can afford to see the original and if they enjoy the songs and the genre, why not - providing the act does reasonable justice to it. As you can see from the comments, everyone has their own view on whether this young woman is any good.Talent shows are there for entertainment not for the benefit of the would be acts, who are just pawns in the game. No place for diva tantrums though!

I was also at the auditions yday and watched her performance. She was just another tribute act. She said she was told to sing a Pink song to get through? how about be yourself to get through, by true talent?? The judges didnt know what shed been told to sing. She had the chance to sing 2 different songs too. She thought she was better than what she was, she dressed like pink and acted like her. The judges told her to go and find what sort of artist she wants to b, to find her own style and that was it. She threw her toys (the mic) out of the pram .spoilt brat!

Why don't the females who appear at the auditions wear ordinary clothes. The blokes turn up in jeans and tee shirts and some of the women dress like strippers at times. I have to say the X Factor is very bad and is absolutely nothing to do with music.

Don't mess with Caerphilly girls!! Go Zoe!

Its all a fix, good for her for speaking out! It would be good for the jusdges to be linked to polygraph machines!

Okay dear you've had all the publicity you need from this sad little saga - now please go away and close the door on your way out

I was in the audience yesterday and she had an awful attitude. She did throw the MIC and when it is shown on live tv, which I am sure it will be, she will be proved to be a liar. She shouted abuse at the judges which was shocking especially with her father present. If my children ever spoke to people in that way I would be absolutly ashamed of them. Her act was ok but you could tell she was a tribute act. I wouldnt have said it was amazing. There were people there yesterday who sent chills up your spine when they sung and she most definately was not one of those.

You are all typical naive DM readers believing everything you read! I would have done worse to those producers than "break her glasses" (which is utter BS). This girl was exploited and MADE to look like a fool... just like Cheryl was. Notice a pattern???? You don't really believe it's all created through honest talent? Simon Cowell has not made that money by being a good honest man. Pass me a bucket.

I know everyone is saying that it is strange she is complaining about singing a pink song, but they also told her if she did she would definitely be through. Also, So What isn't a singer's song. That's probably why she wanted to sing a Jessie J song so she could showcase her talent. So What is just a fun pop song that anyone could sing and it doesn't take much effort and doesn't show the capacity of a singer's voice. Maybe she should have tried out for The Voice instead since vocals are important to her.

She is MUCH better than this pathetic show. Her mistake was to have applied for it. It's about time talented people with potential do NOT audition for this show. Wished I could see you perform one song together with Pink herself. It would be a class act. All she needs is her own songs and a slightly different image. You go girl !!! - Me, Here, 26/6/2012 14:06/////////////////////////////////Performing a song with Pink probably aint gonna happen lol but if it did that would be a Pink Song right? But she would be better with her own songs and image, right? mmmm bit confused as to what you are saying here lol. AND if she was much better than this pathetic show she would have a record contract by now wouldnt she. She doesnt, says it all really, add to that a very bad attitude and i doubt she will ever get out of the working mens clubs with her tribute act.
