Teens might think they have all the style, but a study shows they could have to wait more than 15 years before truly settling on an image.
A study found it takes years of experimenting before women find a look theyâre happy and confident with. Most feel theyâre in their prime at 35.
One in three grew more comfortable with their appearance the older they got, while three out of four thought their style had improved over the years.
In the prime of life: Rachel McAdams, Cat Deeley and Anna Friel are 35
Researchers found one in 20 went so far as to claim they didnât feel they hit their prime until they were 56.
The study â" for premium clothes brand CC â" also found 59 per cent of women admitted they were guilty of dressing âtoo young for their ageâ.
A spokesman for CC said: âThere is an assumption that your looks and sense of style are at their peak in your late teens and early twenties, but this research shows that it can take a while before you find a style and image that suits.
âConfidence, knowledge and wisdom are crucial when it comes to looking good, you can have all the latest trends and must have fashion items but if you donât have the confidence to carry it off the whole look is wasted.â
Finding that confidence in your mid-thirties might also have a knock-on effect in the kitchen.
A separate report claims it takes 11 years to master the perfect roast dinner, usually in our thirties.
Researchers for Asda found two-thirds of us attempt our first roast dinner by the age of 23.
However, we donât feel we have cut the mustard and become fully competent until we are 34.
More than half say getting everything ready on time is the hardest part.

Peak...peak at what? My wife is nearing 60. She is better now than ever. How sorry I feel for the young men of today. They face a never ending torrent of 'in your face' sexualizing by women. And always it's their (the young man's) fault if anything goes awry.

Women definitely hit their prime after 35-the thing is do men know that too?

There's no excuse for anyone under 20 not to look FAB at all times. After that, if you've been blessed with good genes, you can continue to look great indefinitely.

I most certainly agree, from a male point of view. Confidence in all kinds of ways, and this age is when women at their most attractive/hot/in the zone!

Every age is great, don't FOCUS on it, it's not about age - about life

I agree! I'm 32 and work with girls 10 years my junior and even if I could swap ages with them I wouldn't. I love the confidence to be myself I've found in my 30's. I know what suits me and feel much more self assured and comfortable in my own skin. I can see it in my sisters too, they seem to get better with age.

Disagree, that's still very young. (:

Anna F always looks like she needs a good wash and is quite plain. Kat Deeley, I thought she just looked good because she was about 45! Don't want to be mean but she does look a lot older than 35.
