She hit the headlines, crashed internet forums and caused a huge stir when she decided to flash her nipple live on stage.
But Madonna is not a woman who will bow down to her critics and if last night was anything to go by, she has only gone and fuelled the fire even further.
Because despite fans and commentators suggesting that now, at the age of 53, it's time for her to cover up, Madonna then goes and shows off her bare bottom.

Peachy or pathetic? Madonna whipped down her trousers and flashed her bottom in Rome last night a few days after her nipple slip in Turkey
The veteran pop star took to the stage in Rome last night and instead of flashing her breast, this time she slipped off her trousers and showed off her bum to the audience.
During her song Human Nature, the tune during which she slipped her nipple out in Istanbul, she stripped off her microphone pack and unbuttoned her trousers, turned round, pulled them down and flashed her G-string clad derriere to the audience at the Stadio Olimpico.

Controversy: Madonna flashing her nipple on stage in Istanbul last weekend
However, it was a different story - and a different person - when she was snapped stepping out for lunch in Rome before the gig looking like the 53-year-old mother-of-four she is looking sophisticated in a blue dress and black peep-toe heels.
She was enjoying some down-time in the Italian capital ahead of the latest concert in her MDNA world tour.
She caused a stir in Istanbul when she launched into Human Nature and stripped down a black bra top, before pulling one of the cups down and exposing her breast.

Sophisticated: Madonna looked demure in a blue dress and peep-toe heels as she steps out in Rome
The singer received a backlash from fans and fellow celebrities for the over-exposure with Piers Morgan tweeting:' Most embarrassing, cringe-worthy, desperate moment in the history of music?'
But some fans have been more sympathetic, like Hollywood actress Christina Applegate, who commented: 'Reading twitter this am and there r all these tweets about Madonna and her nipple flash. And we are shocked because...?
'What I'm saying is. Its not like Sarah Palin had a nip slip, its Madonna.'

Flashback: Madonna re-invented one of her iconic looks - the cone bra - for her new tour...
Other costumes on the extravagant tour included a red and white cheerleader outfit.
Following her Rome gig last night, she is set to perform in Milan and Florence later this week.

Stop embarrassing your kids and put it all away - we've seen it all hunfdreds of times before Madge!

A few years ago Madonnas turned down a Lifetime Music Achievement award (which was promptly awarded to a grateful Sting) because she felt it did not fit with her image which she felt to be 'cutting edge'. If this is how she remains so in the industry, and not for her music, I'm afraid she's one big hypocrite, which I'm sad to say I don't find appealing. Sorry Madge, bring out brilliant music and I'll enjoy it, but bare your body in an attention-seeking way at your age and I'm afraid I won't enjoy that at all.

Candice, USA, you beat me to it! I watched that movie on TV - secretly, behind the sofa, after my mom fell asleep one evening. I was about ten and it's haunted me ever since. I can pass on Madonna's nipple and bum flashing, but the cheerleader photo is just plain creepy.

Seriously, time for madge to regain some self respect, no one wants to see her saggy 53 year old breast or rump for that matter...her children must be SO proud!!! (NOT)

If she came on the stage totally starkers I wouldn't be surprised. However, for the peace of her children, I hope she doesn't keep flashing at the audience. Madonna's a talented woman, of that there is no doubt, but flashing breasts and bottom is not something your children want to see spread in newspapers and circulating the globe via the internet. There comes a time in every woman's life when baring body parts is a no-no. And, Madonna's reached it.

could she look any more mutton?! especially in the cheerleaders outfit. so sad

Oh My - How old and haggard does she look in that cheerfleaders outfit - reminds me of Bette Davies in 'Whatever Happened To Baby Jane'! I think Madonna looks older than her actual age - because she is underweight and over-muscled, it is very aging to be too thin over the age of 45.

She's simply embarrassing and pathetic now. Her shows are all smoke and mirrors. Flashing at this hour of her life is desperate. Grow up, you sad woman.

whatever you want to say about her, lovely bum for a 20yr old let alone 53!

You can just tell that she is laughing all the way to the bank. These are stunts to get people talking- she's being doing it all her career and good for her. She is always one step ahead of practically everyone- Lady Gaga, reporters, Paps, and the media. GO GIRL! Looking INCREDIBLE.
